You know, the past has placed Henrik Wergeland as romantic author, with writing much about the beaty in the nature. And he was a great magnitude in arts and in the poems, and the wrote about much coming up in his real time. And we should be ourselves, and love the present as we are experiencing from time to time.

Henrik Wergeland was born on 17 June 1808 in Kristiansand. And there is a large statue of him in the middle of Kristiansand, and we consider him even today as a great writer, and something was clear and something unclear in his master pieces, but he added much to the literature as we just know from place to place in Norway, as well as in other countries.

The past has often placed Henrik Wergeland as typical romantic poet, but his authorship also accommodates things as rationalism, realism, satire and a cross-genre will that points beyond the romantic period. So, reality was just that came to mind, and Henrik Wergeland was a fresh breath, and he acted much beyond the existing literature, and we should never be afraid of giving new insight to the literature, with the fresh blood system that we are having. Reality is both established and new, and this is the way to understand what is coming in writing and in authorship from time to time.

Henrik Wergeland wrote a poem dedicated to the rabbit, and managed to enter a cosmic vision on the way. Down the Rabbit Hole indeed... The Muse: Stella, being an amalgam of four love interests from his youth. His first cycle of poems book ends with poems dedicated to her. So, he wrote about: «To Stella». And this was his reaction from something he had experienced earlier in life.

Henrik Wergeland was the friend to all children. He wrote a number of poems, didactic and otherwise, for children. He also wrote about children, of course. Friend to All Living Things: Poems on flowers, insects, animals of all kinds. He even let his horse hold a lengthy speech on the subject of animal abuse. And Henrik Wergeland wrote songs, for instance: We are a nation, we? The poem just mentioned was written by Henrik Wergeland, one of the best-known Norwegian poets, in 1814, the year Norway got its own constitution.

13 years old Henrik Wergeland had his first story published in Morgenbladet. And he continued to write, although he began studying theology and became involved in student life. He mainly wrote poems about nature and love.

I will give you one example of Henrik Wergeland’s impressive publishing and master pieces in literature, and here comes one of his poems:

Anguish! anguish! I am o'erwhelmed
by heavenly visions and greatness of worlds,
by the motley whirl of the living.
Myriad-voiced the All rushes on me,
confuses with thick-crowding visions —
that I, who should in the midst of its zenith
sit like immovable eye, solitary,
ami whirl'd on myself, like a mote among motes.
(Henrik Wergeland, the Norwegian Poet by Illit Gröndahl, 1919

In 1825 Wergeland entered the University of Christiania (now Oslo), where he studied theology, history and botany. He graduated in 1829 with a degree in theology and then started his career as a free-lance writer. He studied medicine but gave up after two years when he was offered a temporary post at the university library.

Wergeland did not live to see the successful conclusion of his efforts, which occurred on June 13, 1851, six years after his death. In 1849, following his death, but before the repeal of Clause 2, Jews living outside of Norway obtained special permission to enter and erect a monument at Wergeland’s graveside. On it are engraved the following words: “Henrik Wergeland, the indefatigable advocate of freedom and justice for humanity and all citizens.”

Henrik Wergeland added something to the literature all his life, and he died on 12 July 1845 in Christiania, just 37 years old. And he had been a star to the literature, and he was not always clearly in his thoughts, and the literature is just making structure and unstructure in the life of himself, but also with giving his writing efforts to people and the masses!
