The world inventions: The case of the roller skis!

Roller skis are popular at the moment, especially when it is no winter. Many like to be outside in nature, and doing roller skiing during the season when there is no snow. And the idea of what we can use the snow to, and what we are doing without snow, has been in the human minds for years.

Roller skiing is an off-snow equivalent to cross-country skiing. Roller skis have wheels on their ends and are used on a hard surface, to emulate cross-country skiing. The skiing techniques used are very similar to techniques used in cross-country skiing on snow.

How was this idea with roller skis? The first roller skis were built in the mid-1930s in Italy and North Europe. In the early 1950s, when cross-country skiing started to evolve to a serious competition sport, the necessity for good summer training grew. Starting in the 1950s people experimented with skis on wheels.

We can do skiing with the roller skis with skating or with classic style, or we can use them both. If you are going as fast as it is possible, you should use roller skis which are prepared and designed for skating. Skate roller-skis have larger and narrower wheels, which allow the athlete to do the "V" skating technique. Bindings: roller-skis use the same bindings as the normal Nordic skis. Skate boots need skate bindings and classic style boots require classic bindings.

The best roller skis for skating are coming from Swenor Skate Elite Roller Ski Bundle with NNN Bindings and Splashguard.

These roller skis from Swenor are designed to provide a realistic experience that rivals snow. The shaft is made from multiple layers of materials. The core is comprised of layered wood. This lightens vibrations from the road for a more comfortable experience. The wood is wrapped in carbon fiber and fiberglass. This creates rigidity and durability.

Classic roller skis are identified by their longer shafts and wider wheels. The wide wheels are noticeably smaller than skate roller skis and have a ratchet to provide a bit of kick. Typically, classic roller skis are better for simulating snow skiing. It develops core and arm strength to build up endurance in the snow.

Roller skiing is an important part of a well-rounded summer program because rollerskis do an excellent job imitating on-snow training. Rollerskiing is also great training for injured runners who are looking for an alternative low-impact, weight bearing workout. And to run fast on roller skis, you should be slim and trained. You need equipment when going and/or running on roller skis. You need bindings, boots, poles, helmet and tracksuit. And maybe other details can be included as well, for instance equipment that secure that you can have something to drink and something to eat.

What about the bindings? There is no easy choice. The main question to answer is,do you go for a NNN or SNS system? It's a bit like Netflix vs Cable or VHS vs Beta system. Many persons choice is the NNN system (Rottefella),one of the main reasons being is that this system has the bigger choice of compatible boots but more to that later.

What about the boots? Depending on your choice of bindings you now have to choose a fitting boot. All Cross country ski boots fit on roller ski bindings, but several persons prefer Roller ski boots especially in the Australian climate. If you chose NNN system than the main manufactures you can choose from are Alpina, Fischer and Rossignol. For SNS system Salomon, Atomic and Botas.

The final important choice are the poles. We use different length poles for skating and classic technique but there are adjustable poles available on the market. The recommendation is a mid range pole like the KV+ Advance or Swix Ct3 as they are reasonable in pricing but give a great feel when skiing.

And finally, the man or woman on the roller skis determines the speed, the shape, the strength and the endurance for the ski race with roller skis. And you should also use your head in sensible and meaningful ways. And we can use roller skis in competitions, in training situation, or just for fun and diversion to the mind’s merriment.
