"The Singing Trees" is a very special phenomenon in the city of Aalborg. In the city center there is a park called Kildeparken. This park neighbors Aalborg Kongress & Kultursenter on one side and the railway station on the other. Each of the trees in the park, are planted by a singer/band and each tree has a speaker that conveys the music of the artist. Last Sunday I walked through the park and took the time to check who has been here and planted a tree.

It all started in 1987 with Cliff Richard. He planted the first tree. Since then, there have been even more trees and I think I read that there are currently more than 80 trees. All are planted by international stars. When Cliff Richard planted his tree, there was no music. The music was added in 2012 and from then on people talked about "The Singing Trees". The person chosen to inaugurate the park was of course Cliff Richard. The park's musical area has become famous and a popular place to visit for both locals and tourists.

This time I took the time to walk around to check whose who has planted trees here: Dr. Hook, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Cliff Richard, Elaine Paige, Sting, Natalia Bessmertova, Bryan Adams and many, many several. What has been done is to put music to each tree in the form of a stand by each tree. You press the button and some of the artist's best-known music comes out of the speaker. On the loudspeaker you will find the name of the artist, the date and year when the person planted their tree.

Something I have not experienced myself is the Christmas music that you can hear during the month of December. Out of the many musicians who have planted a tree, 56 of them have made Christmas music. For that reason, from 1 December you can hear Christmas music when pressing the button. A rather unique park, where you can spend hours listening to music.
