I would like to share with you some stages of the painting process of this pocket watch. I'll try to give a little explanation for each stage of this process.
Me gustaría compartir con ustedes algunas etapas del proceso de pintura de este reloj de bolsillo. Intentaré dar una pequeña explicación para cada etapa de este proceso.
I started to make a drawing to represent the idea I had in mind, an old pocket clock but with a surreal touch.
Empecé a hacer un dibujo para representar la idea que tenía en mente, un reloj de bolsillo antiguo pero con un toque surrealista.
To paint the outer body of the watch I used brown, yellow and gray (almost white), to get a texture like bronze or gold. The ring is painted with two strokes, one to define the outer side of the watch case and the other finer to define the inner side of this.
Para pintar el cuerpo exterior del reloj utilicé marrón, amarillo y gris (casi blanco), para conseguir una textura como el bronce o el oro. El anillo está pintado con dos trazos, uno para definir el lado exterior de la caja del reloj y el otro más fino para definir el lado interior de esta.
To make the inner disk, I first drew a circle with an old paper texture, then on a top layer I drew six fine brown concentric circles with very low opacity, then I added several layers on top with spots, stripes, etc., varying between brown and gray colors with different degrees of opacity to achieve the look of old and worn.
Para hacer el disco interior, primero dibujé un círculo con una textura de papel viejo, luego en una capa superior dibujé seis finos círculos concéntricos marrones con muy baja opacidad, luego agregué varias capas en la parte superior con manchas, rayas, etc., variando entre colores marrones y grises con diferentes grados de opacidad para lograr el aspecto de viejo y gastado.
Here, I temporarily drew a black circle to make the reflections of the transparent watch cover on a top layer. To paint it I use a light gray color, I erased the ends of the strokes with the eraser tool with an opacity of around 10% and then I applied a Gaussian filter. Subsequently, the black circle is removed.
Aquí, dibujé temporalmente un círculo negro para hacer los reflejos de la cubierta transparente del reloj en una capa superior. Para pintarlo utilizo un color gris claro, borré los extremos de los trazos con la herramienta borrador con una opacidad de alrededor del 10% y luego apliqué un filtro gaussiano. Posteriormente, se elimina el círculo negro.
In another layer, below the previous one, I have made the numbers.
En otra capa, debajo de la anterior, he hecho los números.
Using a textured eraser tool I erase lightly and partially the numbers to give them an old look.
Usando una herramienta de borrador texturizado borro ligera y parcialmente los números para darles un aspecto antiguo.
At this stage, having drawn the minute hand and the hour hand, I'm working on the details, adding imperfections, scratches, blurring the circumference of the watch a bit to make it look like it has taken a few bumps, etc.
En esta etapa, habiendo dibujado el minutero y la manecilla de la hora, estoy trabajando en los detalles, agregando imperfecciones, rayones, difuminando un poco la circunferencia del reloj para que parezca que ha recibido algunos golpes, etc.
