Today I will share my latest tour experience with you. What makes this trip different from the travel
experiences I have written before is that this station is a prehistoric archaeological site. Let's move
to the story.
Kuragala prehistoric archaeological site & temple located at Kalthoda, Rathnapura district Sri Lanka.
Excavation of the Kuragala archaeological site has found stone tools, animal bone tools and human bone
that is more than 8000 years old. Also, finding things like seashells in the archaeological site of
Kuragala proves that the people of that time had dealings with the coastal areas. The specialty of this
is that Kuragala is located in the interior of the country. It has also been found that they have done
agricultural work.
Let us now look only at the Kuragala Buddhist monastery. According to the evidence found in the archaeological
site of Kuragala, there are evidence that there were several Buddhist monasteries from the 3rd century AD to
the 1st century AD. This is clear from the inscriptions found in Kuragala.
This historical site, which was dying for a long time, started to be rebuilt after 2019 and its work has now
been completed. Now there is a very beautiful Buddhist temple there.

Last Sunday I go there and It's a peradise for photo lovers. It is a very peaceful place and one can maintain peace of mind when
visiting it. However, it is a busy station on Pohya days and holidays and the station is filled with Buddhist devotees.
