B&W PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #134 / Autumn Diptych

To illustrate some of my thoughts with a photograph, sometimes one picture is not enough, and then I compose diptychs, triptychs, quadriptychs and other polyptyches from a series of captured photographs relating to some moment that stopped my attention.

This new diptych should be viewed from the bottom up, and not as it is placed in the post.

I was walking fast and suddenly I saw that dry rectangle on the tiled sidewalk. It seems nothing special, there are many such places on the sidewalk, but it was this brick that stopped me for a long time. Or maybe the elegant yellow birch leaves were so intricately arranged that they led me to this place, and not to some other.

I stripped the photos of color in order to focus on movement and stopping. Gold coins of scattered leaves are too distracting, and monochrome focuses attention on what is important.

And what is important here? I don't really know the answer. What was I looking for there, what was I thinking about, besides the geometry of the sidewalk, the location of the leaves and the accuracy of the composition? I do not know what you will see when looking at this diptych in the sequence I invented, but I hope that it will stop the viewer's attention. The task was only this.

The same photos are in color to compare the result.
