Marine Theme III

Today I continue a series of sketches on the #marine theme. This time the main character of my #sketch is a steamboat. The leaders in shipbuilding everywhere were english. But the first reliable mention of the test of the #ship says that the French were the first. On July 15, 1783, Claude-François-Dorothée, marquis de Jouffroy d'Abbans demonstrated the 'Piroscaf' ship. Then the championship took the Americans. At the end of the 18th century, Scottish inventors built a seventeen-meter steamer which, with a steam engine capacity of 10 horsepower, was used to tow barges in the canal. The first really used steamboat was created by Robert Fulton in 1807. It was the "Clermont" steamboat. In the #Russian Empire, the first ship called "Elizabeth" was built by the scotsman Charles Baird. "Elizabeth", which was carrying thirteen passengers, has a top speed of five knots and successfully passed the way from St. Petersburg to the island of Kronstadt in 3 hours and 20 minutes.

After a short historical background, I ask you to graciously evaluate my #post! :-)
