WOX Trave contest Week 9 |Polonnaruwa ancient city and Pimburaththewa Lake

Today, by participating in the WOX Travel week 9 Contest hosted by @o1eh, I'd like to share my travel destination to Polonnaruwa ancient city and Pimburaththewa Lake. As a family, we travel to this destination last February.

Our main destination was Polonnaruwa Gal Viharaya, a rock temple of the Buddha. The main attraction of this temple is four rock relief statues of the Buddha carved into the face of a large granite rock. The images consist of a large seated statue, another small seated statue, a standing statue, and a reclining statue. These were laying ancient city of Polonnaruwa. We have visited this location several times, but never enough to appreciate the statues' calm and attractive beauty.

Pimburuththawe Lake was where we were going next. Aralaganwila village, in the Polonnaruwa District of Sri Lanka, is home to the Pimbuattewa Tank, which is also known by that name. We took about one and a half hours to travel the 42.7 kilometers from the city of Polonnaruwa. This location is a favorite swimming spot for locals. Pimburuththawe Lake is surrounded by stunning views of beautiful green grass and trees. This location is common for swimming because it is a great place to take a bath.

The design of the lake's water spill is what makes this place famous. There are multiple triangles in this water spill. There are more than five water spills with triangle designs, which is a prominent feature. This might not be a waterfall, but it looks like a collective of waterfalls.

We were advised by the residents of that area to be careful when taking baths, as most of the elephants roam through this area in the evening in search of water. Therefore, we paid close attention to the entire area when we took a bath. We were there during the rainy season, so the lake was full of water and added to the beauty of the area.

Hello, friends, this is my entry to this contest. I would like to invite @simonnwigwe, @jyoti-thelight, @ngoenyi, and @mikitaly to take part in this contest.
