Glancing at the Enchantment of "SUWEG" Flowers
Suweg flower which has the Latin name Amorphophallus paeoniifolius is a plant that is still relatively closely related to carrion flowers and iles-iles. Desiring high rainfall (ranging from 1000-1500 mm/yr) with a height of place to grow between 0-800 m above sea level, Suweg flowers seem to have their own paradise in Aceh.
Often referred to as a bi-seasonal plant, the true flower of suweg undergoes vegetative and generative phases that do not coincide. The vegetative phase is seen as the growth of branched leaves that sometimes appear as clumps. While the generative phase occurs when the plant begins to flower.
Suweg flowers are usually propagated by using bulbs. With loose and fertile soil conditions, the growth of suweg flowers can be optimal. If the desired intake of nutrients and water is met until the energy storage in the form of flour in the tubers is sufficient, then the flowering process will occur.
