When I posted about SourceForge's "Best Decentralized Social Media Networks" just over a week ago, I didn't know what to expect. I thought that a few of my followers would see it, a few more in World Of Xpilar (after I'd opted to "pin" the post) and perhaps a couple of Resteems. We'd reach a few people but reviews take time and effort and I thought - "we might get an extra 20 or 30 reviews if things go well".
Things went better than "well" and I only recognised a handful of the usernames that appeared in the comments underneath my post - 1 week on, we have 145 reviews and sit at the top of the charts.
So a massive thank you to everybody who has contributed to making this happen.
Having announced that "The Top 3 entries" would receive a prize of 50 STEEM each, I had my work cut out in narrowing down the field...
I managed to get to a longlist of 17 reviews and roped in my (IAT Lifestyle) Curation Team to anonymously vote for their top reviews and as I write this, I'm now down to a final shortlist of 8. Part of me is hoping that in starting this post, the 3 winning reviews will suddenly present themselves but it won't happen so although you won't experience this break in the proceedings, I will...
Time's up. A decision is required and I've decided that I want to reflect how difficult it's been to make a decision by awarding 10% of this post's payout to each of the 5 authors who didn't quite make it into the prizes - @sofian88, @nforyembe, @event-horizon, @faizanwrites07 and @drqamu.

Steemit gave a Direction to my life by @wentv
Pros: I entered for hobby, then it became part of my life, I have been on the platform for 1 year oand daily I am entering Steemit. Thanks to it I have learned a lot about cryptocurrencies, there is a great academy that forged me learning and I have also been able to meet wonderful friends with whom I have great communication. I have managed to improve my quality of life and that has a huge value.
I really like creating content, here I was able to make great sports posts that were taken into account, I especially love the direction that Steemit is taking this year, I see a very big progress and is working very hard to consolidate much the platform.
Thanks Steemit I dream of a better future, every day I wake up I feel that I am doing something with great purpose, seeing how steem power is increasing in my account makes me believe in all that we can achieve within the platform and right now many users are investing in that which makes the steem currency become stronger.
There are many communities that work on a daily basis, providing a lot of support to users, creating dynamics that can attract you, there are also users committed to interact and nothing better than being read for the effort of your work. I always recommend to everyone that steemit is a good place, you just have to work hard to achieve your goals, I never imagined that in just 1 year my life would give this change, I'm not exaggerating, I really went from not knowing what to do with my life to find a place that allowed me to invest in cryptocurrencies, invest in small businesses and opt for a better future.
I think that the web 3.0 world is the future, steemit already has several years since its birth, you can say that it has been a visionary blockchain that saw exactly what today they want to name as the future, but we really have a present with work on the platform and a future that is being forged on a large scale. Come and join us and you will be welcome
Cons: I can give as a criticism that many people want to get quick income, for that reason they leave and do not understand that this is a process that goes little by little. Another sincere criticism is that many users have been discovered trying to cheat, but good work has already been done to clean the platform of those users who try to do harm and largely these two criticisms that I make are not criticism in themselves, are expressions of someone who has seen bad aspects, but that are alien to those who do good work within Steemit and that when noticed have been able to take good measures.
I only say that you encourage you, constancy and a lot of effort that you will find a great place in the platform. Last criticism is that people did not understand that the future is to invest, there was a small group that did not like the measure to invest at least 50% of your rewards and the other 50% to withdraw it. Well now after a few months, it has been proven that this has been a great decision.
Overall: Steemit is a blockchain based platform, but at the same time it is a social network, all social networks have as a main feature to be successful, support your friends, meet new people and interact within it.
You just have to do this and you will surely start doing very well within the platform. Then you will start making quality publications, you will get recognized and you will feel a great love for Steemit.

Cons: The Steem system is confusing to navigate and it's hard to get started. It has a steep learning curve that makes new users feel like they are lost in space.
Even if you spend hours trying to figure out how everything works, it still might be difficult to earn any money using your account. However, the steemit team has made advancements through a community "newcomers community" to help newbies with the appropriate knowledge and support.
If you're looking for an easy way to start earning extra cash online, Steemit probably isn't it. You'll have to put in a lot of work before you see any real results. But then, there is a guarantee that your efforts will pay off simply because "effort pays". Another con is that all posts payouts are done seven days after writing the posts i.e users will have to wait 7 days before they can cash out their rewards.
Moreso, like other cryptocurrencies, steem token values are unstable and unpredictable. For all I know, the value could fall overnight.
Overall: Overall, I really love Steemit. It's not perfect, but it's so much better than anything else I've tried. If you don't have an account yet and are thinking about creating one, DO IT! You will get the reward for the effort you put into it. Steem has a steep learning curve at first but once you figure it out, you will have so much fun here. My favourite thing about steemit is that there are no limits to growth; post often and participate in comment chains with other people and your following will increase over time! Give it a shot and make some good content! Don't let anyone tell you that it's pointless because you'll never get anywhere--we are all making history right now!

Pros: Steemit is a decentralized social network. Here you can find a community of like-minded people, interesting and mutually beneficial communication. On the basis of such communication, there is an opportunity to gain new knowledge and improve oneself.
Your content is stored on the blockchain and cannot be deleted. This is convenient for proving copyright on it in case of disputes.
You can monetize your content and there are various options for this. There is an internal exchange for working with tokens, but there are no problems with withdrawing tokens to external exchanges.
There is a policy to support authors who create original, interesting, useful content. Within the framework of this policy, there are several options for support programs for both newbies and just active authors.
Steemit has great potential, which has not yet been fully revealed and realized. This suggests that the platform has a future.
This is one of the oldest platforms that has shown its vitality and reliability.
Cons: As a user, I do not find critical disadvantages.
I would like to have a more informative and functional interface and more work on the implementation of the potential capabilities of the platform
Overall: I have been on this platform since 2018. The first year was difficult, I am not a native English speaker and I did not understand everything then. At one time there was even a desire to leave the platform. But I decided to continue and now I do not regret it. In fact, everything is not difficult, but you need to make an effort to understand the whole mechanism and then everything becomes simple. However, it is the same in any case.
I remember that every year there were reports that Steemit was dying. For some users, this mood exists even now. I remember when the token was about 10 c and everyone was talking about the scam. But after that, the rate soared above 1 d, then fell and this is a normal life. This is how cryptocurrencies work.
There were times when centralization reached a dangerous limit on the platform, there was even a bifurcation and some people left the platform and again there was talk that the platform was dying.
So, I think Steemit is the most sustainable social media platform. It reminds me of the history of bitcoin. Everyone says that it is old, it has outlived its usefulness, many new crypto-currencies appear...but the cue ball is a monolithic rock and the basis of the whole crypt...no matter what anyone says...go to the exchange and see for yourself. The same reasoning applies to Steemit.
