In December 1999 the Burj AL Arab Hotel opened and a myth was created. The story tells that a British travel writer, who was invited to stay at the hotel, was so amazed that in her article she referred to Burj AL Arab as the only seven-star hotel in the world.
This story has never been proven but it has been endlessly repeated.
The hotel was designed by architect Tom Wright, inspired by the traditional Arabian dhow sail. This sail-shaped building stands alone, on its own man-made island, connected to the mainland only by a bridge.
The hotel is as impressive outside as it is inside. It has two wings that are arranged in a v-shape, and the space between them houses the world’s tallest atrium, which ascends over 180 meters high. The room décor was carefully chosen to make a luxurious ambiance. Gold and other royal colors comprise the pallet.
There is no doubt that “The Arabian Tower” is a world architectural icon. Whether how many starts should have is for each guest to decide.
