The main cave is called Princess Margareth Cave. We entered at a small opening leading down into the cave itself. This cave seemed safe to do without a guide. Just after we entered we could see the chamber was rather big and we saw the opening at the other end. The wide staircase took us up to the road again.
When entering the darkness of the tunnels and caves we have to be cautious. Dripping water makes the rocks become slippery. One has to mind both steps and head. The rocks are sharp.
On the photo above there are two openings down into tunnels, but they are hard to find if there had been no signs. The park is a small nature park with many trails that will take the visitor to the lava tunnels. The trails are well maintained and signposted. It was in December 2015 that the park was inaugurated. I don't know whether these tunnels are known among tourists yet. We did not meet anyone there.
