Milkyway

....I kissed my wife's forehead, bidding farewell as that night I was invited by a friend to accompany a guest from out of town. The plan was to capture the Milky Way at Maros Stone Park. It was a bit challenging leaving my wife, who was in the early stages of pregnancy, but she always supported me, allowing me to go that night.

Our destination was Salenrang Stone Park, a place with various karst formations, known for being a favorite spot to capture the Milky Way due to its distant location from the city and minimal light pollution.

I started my car, slowly driving towards the complex gate and then onto the busy main road, heading east towards Maros Regency. Before that, I had to make a brief stop at a coffee shop in Maros City to meet my friend and the guest joining us for the night photography.

30 minutes later, I arrived at the coffee shop, where my friend was already waiting. Shortly after, the guest arrived—a man in his mid-30s. We exchanged brief introductions; I learned he was from Bandung and worked for an environmental NGO.

We then set off, the time showing 7:30 PM. 15 minutes later, we reached the parking lot of Salenrang Stone Park, not far from Rammang-rammang Pier 2. We prepared our camera equipment, tripods, and flashlights. Walking slowly together, I followed behind as my friend guided us through the dark paths of the stone park, resembling a labyrinth. Navigating this park in complete darkness could be challenging, especially with its maze-like corridors. Losing focus could lead us astray.

We set up the cameras and began capturing the Milky Way. Luckily, the weather was clear, and the stars were visible even with the naked eye. The location was indeed ideal, far from light pollution. Here are the photos I took that day."
