Prepping for spring and planting potatoes in repurposed pots

Well a local-ish water company was throwing away damaged 5 gallon water cooler jugs, the kind offices use.

So I grabbed as many as I could fit in my van, I cut the top off of them and drilled half inch holes in the bottom at an angle.

I filled them with about 6 inches of dirt, places the potato in and buried it.

Then it was time to dig out the potatoes, we would dump a bucket in a tote and rummage through it.

The buckets and water jugs produced a lot of new potatoes, great for canning 😊👌

We also tried growing potatoes in a potato box, we had 8-10 plants in the box.

But this is all we got, and we let them grow longer.
