This guy right here flew into my kitchen window in the afternoon one day. He must have been stunned, he sat there for over an hour staring into the kitchen window.
It was an extremely unsettling yet cool experience, I had never seen an owl close up like this before. Why was he out in broad daylight like this?
Sadly, it was because he was hunting our chickens. It was the first realization that my coop wasn't secure enoughđ I did not take into account predator birds during the day, they were in their run and this guy got in and killed our poor Miss Penny. We let him out of the run when we found the devestation. He had only taken her and seemed scared. It had been a hard winter, lesson learned.
Our girls are totally secure now⤠This was a true learning homestead experience.
