UPDATE ON INDOOR WINTER GARDEN AND OTHER THINGS
Indoor Garden Update
So far my indoor winter garden is coming along good. I am surprised at how some plants and herbs are doing, but stressing about others.
My tomatoes are doing well and I will soon be transplanting them into their 'winter home'. Just need a few more inches of growth and a few more new leaf sprouts coming off the stem. I planted four total with the hopes of having two survive and produce over the winter months. We shall see...
The echinacea is doing well also. Growing stronger and stronger every day. After watering throughout the last few weeks, I need to add more potting soil to the container as the water has settled the dirt. But other than that, I am pleased with the progress.
If you remember, I had planted two pods of oregano. Well, when I transplanted to this container, I sprinkled more seeds as I use oregano almost daily for seasoning. LOOK at all those oregano sprouts coming up now!
A little worried about the mesclun. I have NEVER grown this, even outdoors, and it appears to be lagging some. I'll have to see what nutrients I can perhaps add to help it along.
Transplanting Basil & Summer Savory
It was time to transplant the summer savory and basil into their winter homes also. So I spent this rainy morning doing just that.
My basil pods went from this...
To this...
Summer savory here...
To here...
Not sure how the summer savory will do, only time will tell. Looking into nutrients here too.
Two More (Cold) Infused Oils Made
The other day I made a lemon balm cold infused oil, so today I took some basil and marjoram and decided to make more. I will be adding a whole clove of garlic to the basil jar when I am ready to start the process.
So there are my updates. I have more in the indoor winter garden but I decided to make two posts from it. Too many pictures to share at once.
