As the lazy days of summer slip away, it will soon be time to put away the beach chair and prepare for going back to school. Whether you are starting school for the first time or returning back to school after a relaxing holiday, these tips will prepare you for a great start to the new year.

1. ADJUST TO THE NEW ROUTINE 适应新的作息时间
Getting back into the school routine can be a challenge for everyone in the family. To make the transition easier, start adapting to the new routine early.

Print out a morning chores checklist to remind the little ones of what needs to be done each morning. Instruct the kids to do morning chores on their own so they develop a good habit of self and time management.

Set up a well-lit, quiet place at home with a good work surface to do homework. Try and keep this place dedicated to homework and free of other clutter. Make sure it’s well stocked with school supplies.
在家里准备一处照明良好、安静的区域给孩子们做家庭作业。这里最好不做其他用途,以便孩子们可以专注做作业。记得在这里将学习用品准备齐全。
6. MAKE A PRACTICE RUN 做个实际操练
A few days before school starts, have the children become familiar with their morning routine. Practice when you will wake up, get ready, eat breakfast, and leave for school. If the kids walk to school, take them on a walk to help them learn the route and make note of the time it takes to walk to school. If you will drive to school, take a practice run getting to school to assess traffic conditions at that time.

Check the backpacks together to make sure all supplies are packed. Set a strict bedtime to ensure evening routine begins immediately. You child may be extra excited and anxious, so allow for plenty of time to wind down.

I like to put secret love notes in their backpack so they know that you are thinking about them at school.
