REPAIRING THE RUSTY ROCKER PANELS ON MY 1997 FORD F150

What do you do when your truck is rusting out?
I came across a wonderful option when it comes to rocker panels.
You can repair them using aluminum repair panels available online at rustrepairpanel.com.

I ordered them and they fit well and the install was fairly easy.
Order the correct make, model & year and they arrive preshaped to fit.

Installation

Some of the plastic molding on your truck may need to be temporarily removed.
I did this using a phillips head screwdriver.
Then you measure and snip the new panel for your needs.
Once this new repair panel is ready it's time to attach it.
Make sure you get any loose paint or rust off the truck panel before you apply the glue.
I used sandpaper and steel wool, I also cleaned it with a rag and water as well.
I then applied the glue to both surfaces, I used 3M Hi Strength 90.

This stuff is really good adhesive, it will bond forever.
After waiting a few minutes to let the glue set, you place your panel on.
Now you need to have it exactly where you want it, because the glue will bond immediately.
I then drilled the screw holes top side and bottom side and put in the screws.
I did both rocker panels like this and I think it turned out pretty good.
