A few days ago @thecryptofiend proposed a competition for ideas to outreach and spread the world about Steemit. He annouced A Steemit X-Prize - A Competition to Brainstorm Ideas for Promotion and Marketing, received 204 comments and already annouced the selected best ideas: Steemit X Prize results.
Congratulations to the Steemit X Prize winners!
As I made some entries there, following the sugestion of the prize's creator, I decided to make a list of the ideas and post here.
Article recomendation exchange platform.
Similar to Outbrain and Taboola but promoting Steemit posts in Steemit blogs or even embedded in other sites or blog platforms. The publishers could be rewarded with Steem.
Customized landing pages by target categories or special news coverage.
Set special and visually actractive pages for food.steemit.com, photography.steemit.com or refugeecrisis.stemit.com (steemit.com/food, steemit.com/photography... as well) with aggregated Steemit posts (new, hot, trending, etc) and banners promoting Steemit. Create campaigns to promote each page for the public it would interest. If needed to avoid platform changes, an option could be creating another urls, like steemspeak.com did, perhaps using an Steemit for Wordpress plugin or something like that.
Offer exclusive itens to buy with Steem.
If there are any columnists and authors writing content about cryptocurrency they would be in Steemit too, if not to blog, to test and evaluate at least. To atract them Steemit could create and offer personalized itens like portraits, 3d printed action figures, illustrated t-shirts, favorite foods, etc, with Steem prices only. The product could be made by an artist or artisan. A painted portrait or cartoon of the target columnist for example. The same for t-shirts or 3D printed objects, wich requires a 3D modeling professional. I think the target content creators could be famous book authors like Dan Tapscott and Melanie Swan or even bloggers like Amelia Tomasicchio...
Offer fan itens with Steem prices to buy.
To attract fans and enthusiasts Steemit could offer itens like memorabilia, jerseys, souvenirs, etc, with Steem prices only. The itens could be offered in an auction system, stimulating competition and identifying the most wanted products.
Steemit Verified Accounts.
As I said before, if there are any columnists and authors writing content about cryptocurrency they would be in Steemit too, if not to blog, to test and evaluate at least. To atract them Steemit could offer verified accounts to these authors set their usernames as used in other channels. To check the accounts, a simple email with the domain of the their sites/blogs/profiles or a post or button publication on it.
Funding selected projects from arts, media and communications students.
To attract young content creators interested in cryptocurrency Steem could select and suport projects from students of arts, media and communications schools. The projects ideas could be posted on Steemit with a specific tag and the winners receive Steem and/or services and tools needed.
Cowoking spaces accepting Steem partneship program.
I think many content creators uses coworking spaces worldwide so Steemit could sponsor or propose a program, including promoting and supporting those who accept and promote Steem also.
After the deadline I couldn't stop to brainstorm and had more ideas that I described below.
Steemit Places and geolocated posts.
Like the Facebook Places feature, sharing locations and comments about venues you visit could be an easy content entry. The option to geolocate posts, as in Blogspot, and the possibility to browse posts near you could be interesting too.
Steemfest as an open franchise like Ted and Fablab.
Following the impressive succes of the Steemfest in cryptocurrency community, Steemit could approve a set of rules and requirements needed to anyone in the world host a Steemfest too. From accepting Steem, air Steemmovie, play an specific music and offer a Steemit elected recipe local crafted beer or appetizers, for example. Similar with TED and its open TEDx format or Fab Foundation's Fablabs.
If you liked any idea, feel free to use, adapt and develop as you wish. I think more the Steemit is promoted and Steem ecosystem grows more each participant gains.
Thanks for yout attention and congratulations again to @thecryptofiend and the winners. See you in the next Steemit X Prize edition.
