This is my entry for the @orientalhub HK-JP-SG Cross Community Challenge. I think I may stick with the original idea that writing about Japan and Singapore from a foreigner view. Today I would like to talk about the culture of "beer first". When I was in Japan, I went restaurant or izakaya, the waiter/waitress will standby and waiting for order. I was a bit frustrated as I just sit down and still haven't read the meal. My Japanese friend told me that it is their habit and a culture in Japan. People will order beer or some alcohol immediately. Then order the food. Start everything by a beer first, for relax and for cheer up the mood too.
皆さん、こんにちは！これは@orientalhubさんの文化交流チャレンジの投稿です。外国人の視点から日本とシンガポールの文化を書くという本来のルールを挑戦したいと思います。私は "とりあえずビール"という文化について香港と日本の外食文化を話したいと思います。日本にいたとき、一般レストランや居酒屋に行って、座ったばかりなのに店員さんもう注文を待ってます。なんか変だと思いました。日本人の友人は、それが日本の文化であるとに言った。入店したらすぐビールやアルコールを注文して、そのあとおつまみや食べ物を注文するのは普通です。リラックスするや気分を上げるために。
In Hong Kong, there are some common chain izakaya like Watami. But it is more like a restaurant that have many set meal and people usually go it for not drink and snack, but having lunch and dinner. (Like Yoshinoya, in Hong Kong it is more like a family restaurant, we go with family and family, it has hotpot too.) So, the waiter/waitress will also welcome a order of a drink when you sit down, but the more common practice, they will pass you a meal and come back later. And drink always with set or people prefer drink during the meal.
香港には、ワタミのような居酒屋がありますね。しかし、それと日本のちょっと違います。お飲みに行くではなく、お昼と晩ごはんのはメインです。家族や友たちの食事会にも人気です。 （吉野家のように、こっちはファミリーレストランのようなものです、ホットポットもありますね）もちろん店員さんはすぐ飲み物の注文も受けますが、香港の場合、食事中注文すると後に飲むのはよくあることですね。まずほっとして、ゆっくりメニューを読んで、店員さんを呼ぶのは多くの人の習慣です。
I didn't know this "beer first culture" before. And after my friend ordered, the waiter/waitress is still standing and wait for me. The atmosphere was weird. When I knew this is a Japanese eat out culture, my favorite is the Umeshu, with rock or soda-wari. ❤️️
“ビールの最初の文化”を知らなかった。友人が注文した後、店員さんはまだ立っていて、わたしを待って、“ん？なんか雰囲気が変な”の思い出あります。これが日本の外食文化だと分かったから、私のお気に入りはウメシュで、ロックやソーダワリです。 ❤
簡短版 in Chinese：這是參加ORIENTALHUB HK-JP-SG 文化交流比賽的作品。我還元了原先看到是互相介紹各地文化的主題來寫了。這次寫的是點餐的一件小事。在日本時，去居酒屋和一般餐廳，還沒知道他們原來一坐下就喜歡先點個啤酒/酒精飲品，然後才點食物。而我傻傻的讓店員在等，氣氛尷尬呢。後來朋友告知這是他們的習慣，先喝一杯放輕鬆，或者炒熱氣氛。
而在香港，像和民這些居酒屋，我們也當它是吃飯的餐廳。進去後都先看餐牌再慢慢點。飲品也是吃飯時喝的比較多吧。而當我知道這分別後，去日本餐廳，如果要點飲品時，我都先點個梅酒喝<3
