Hello hello hello awesome people of Steemit!

IMG_9961.JPGDSC08432.JPGHeya everyone!

I am May and I am a full time freelance artist, illustrator, designer and an art teacher. I started drawing at a pretty young age, couldn't really remember how old when I first picked up a marker but according to my mom, it was most probably when I was either 2 or 3 years old. Hence, you could say I've been an artist all my life, well, sort of. I am fortunate to be born into a nurturing family whom both my mom and dad told me that no matter what I do in life, always do it with all my heart and soul. I did, but the commercial creative world is a very jaded and cruel environment, so I left it all behind me and started freelancing middle of last year. I'm a doodle addict and I draw almost on anything, possible.

I recently had my very 1st solo show at a tiny indie art gallery called Minut Init, owned by friends of mine. All of the artworks were cats, I'm no cat lady but it's weird how this wave of energy, or some sort just urges you to do it, and you just do! Call it inspiration if you may but I think it's pretty hard to explain it..anyone who is an artist out there will tell you the same thing.

I am currently freelancing as an illustrator with a startup called Coworkers since June last year, only recently I have started freelancing as a designer with a small local boutique digital agency. I had been teaching kids art classes on and off when I used to work in a full time job, one year I was teaching full time but things weren't stable so I had to get back into the commercial rat race. Now, teaching kids again, it's pretty awesome.

I also do live drawing with my bunch of the most passionate bunch of musician friends. We are a crazy collective of musicians and artist who gets together and create awesomeness!

I'm glad I took this step. Leaving the commercial creative industry was the best thing that I've ever did. Having 3 jobs is crazy, yes I know, it's tough but I'm so much more a happier person! I smile so much more now, working with kids makes me smile a lot because they just light up your day, one time, they actually cheered me up on a day when I felt like crap.

A friend of mine told me about Steemit and how awesome it is here where crazy artist like myself am able to share my art and thoughts without the pride or prejudice , in other words, judgement free. A place where anyone can freely express their opinions and ideas and not get told off or otherwise.

So this is me for the #introduceyourself post and thank you for having me part of the community!
