Communication of information – New forms

Source

The digitalization has also drastically changed the way the people communicate. New forms have been born in last few years. While some of them have already disappeared, the remaining ones are influencing us quite a lot. The trend that came hand in hand with them is though lesser concentration on the quality of the work, but rather its mass production. Let me briefly introduce the ones still around.

  • Blogs: All the steemians are pretty familiar with that right? They are rather short-formed articles. They are mostly not only short-formed, but also short-lived. Even though they may contain very usefull information they tend to “zapadnout”. Eve though they are permanently locked into the blockchain in the case of Steemit, the same unfortunately applies (in the current form without archives).
  • Microblogs: Those are provided by services like Twitter. Basically the description of blogs applies to the microblogs to, just in micro form lol. It’s usually tough to fill them with important information due to its micro form though.
  • Wiki: Good old Wikipedia…We all know those collaborative platforms right?
  • Social medias: Those are basically the platforms through which the Microblogs are distributed. Facebook, Twitter, etc.

The information environment and its changes probably seems as bunch of random and confusing aspects of the information society. And it actually is not far from the truth. The transition into close-to fully digitalized age can’t really be stopped. Some of the areas are already kinda well-handled or researched, some of those areas still need a lot of work to be practically effective. The technology changes everything around us, but those interested in cryptocurrencies probably already know that. Anyway I find it rather interesting to know where the “information revolution” still needs to happen, and where its influence can already be positively felt. Digitalization, mobile devices, changes in the economic models, open access data or new forms of communication… all those aspects play a significant roles in nowadays life, course of the information age and the way humanity deals with it.
