Malaysia: Heaven on Earth

Since my introductory post didn't talk any much of my country of origin, today I would like to dedicate this post to this land that I'm born of and raise me.

Dear fellow Steemians, Welcome to Malaysia.

The Recipe of Heaven
Malaysia is a very unique country, as it's compose by two major land masses, the Malaya Peninsula and the Borneo States, divided by the South China Sea, that we are probably the only nation that has it land mass divided rather equally by a rather wide sea. Hence, we are no short in magnificent landscape, ranging from sandy beaches, tropical forest to hilly terrains.

Malaysia is a Federation consist of 13 states and 3 federal territories. Malaysia is also one of the handful nation with a elective monarchy, where the head of state, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, is elected among states rulers (aka Sultans).

Malaysia is made up by a diverse ethnicity, while the largest ethnic group is the Malay people, which consist roughly 50% of the Malaysia's  310 million people, then there is roughly 68 million or 22% of Chinese people. The total population of various indigenous people is around 3 million at 10% while Indians stood around 6%.

Malay, or Bahasa Melayu is the official language, while English and Mandarin is widely spoken. The official religion is Islam, while Malaysia do practices freedom of religion.

History of Malaysia is kinda short, around half a decade, depending on who you ask. Officially, Peninsula Malaya (the Federation of Malaya) gained independence on 31st August 1957,from Brittish rule while the federation of Malaysia (Peninsula Malaya + Borneo States) is formed on 16th September 1963, and YES we do celebrate on both day.

These unique circumstances had provided Malaysian with a very unique canvas to paint on, since everybody has something to bring to the table, hence born the Rojak style of Malaysia, where we happily mix thing up, with little to no regards to it's origin, as long as we, the Malaysian are happy with the end results.

What's a Rojak you may ask?

mishmash { noun }a collection of miscellany

In my honest opinion, that how you create heaven.

Grounded for the Moment
The time is 1957 where colonialism is so 1800s, even for the Queen. Hence the a new nation was born. Then the nation quickly pick herself up, from the ruins of Japan occupation and communism, picking up some new buddies along the way, and kicking one out from the house (read: Singapore).

No doubt the British rule is somewhat impairing the growth of local people, they do provide us with some of the world best institution of governance, in the name of Westminster parliamentary system. However, the British left us pretty hastily, without providing a proper user manual to the system they designed, and things are bound to go wrong.

Just like a kiddo sit on a pile of golden coins, he will easily find ways to misspend his fortune, so do this newly found nation named as Malaysia. But hey, since when building a nation is an easy task?

Thus I firmly believe that the current tough and choppy situation we had been facing for the past decades is a must, that we as Malaysian to enjoy the fruit of democracy, we must endure the pain of it beforehand.

Malaysia, a slice of heaven, grounded at the moment, that one day will soar among the clouds.
