Gandalf (re)introduction

Hello, World! I am Gandalf.

That is not my real name, but even my mom saved my number as Gandalf in her phone contact list.

Gandalf

Wait. I already wrote that over 4 million blocks ago in my first post on steemit

I signed up on steem at the end of June 2016. Unfortunately the ID that is so obvious to me was already taken. I had no other choice but to use a different account name. So I chose gtg, as in Gandalf the Grey.

Just recently Not so long ago, thanks to the kindness of @masteryoda and @joseph, I was able to finally get the @gandalf ID on steem. This account was created two months before I even knew that steem existed or what it was.
Thank you, again!

I will continue to use @gtg for witness purposes. As a witness, I am doing my best to improve steem, steemit and witness infrastructure, to make them more secure and reliable for the community.

If you believe I can be of value to steem, please vote for me (gtg) as a witness either on Steemit's Witnesses List or by using your cli_wallet command:
vote_for_witness "YOURACCOUNT" "gtg" true true

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to vote for other witnesses who play an important role on steem. If you do not know who is who, you can rely on my choices and set me as a "voting proxy" for your account. Currently you can do this only by using cli_wallet:
set_voting_proxy "youraccountname" "gtg" true
Remember that this only works when you vote for witnesses. This have no influence over what posts you choose to upvote.
Setting up a voting proxy and/or voting for witnesses does not affect your steem power or voting power. You can choose up to 30 witnesses. It does not matter if you choose 1 or 30, each vote will have the same (maximum) voting effect anyway.

You can contact me directly on steemit.chat, as Gandalf, or on one of these channels:

  • #introduceyourself - a place where newcomers can promote their introduction posts without being flooded by other random links. That is where you can post links to your introduction and talk to other newcomers. When you are no longer a newcomer, you can curate others and encourage them to enjoy this platform.
  • #mining - this is where you can get help with setting up your STEEM miner, talk about performance or just get an idea what mining is and how it works under the hood.
  • #witness - this is where you can talk about witness related subjects if you are one of the top19 witnesses or just a runner-up witness; even if you are not a witness, you can keep an eye on what witnesses are currently doing.

If you have any questions, you can contact me using these channels. I check the chat box regularly, but I can not always respond instantly, so please be patient.
