Born Godwin Kalu on 30th November 1954 in rural Okputong village, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State in Nigeria. Married with 4 children, 1 boy and 3 girls, and all doing well in their different areas of endeavors.
Because my father could not send me to the University which was a special reserve for the upper class then, I reluctantly opted for the cheaper Teachers Training Institute, where I qualified as a grade11 teacher. With time, my initial discontent turned to satisfaction. With total dedication and devotion to duty, I became likeable and popular with my fellow colleagues, pupils, students and the top notch in the education industry. The gratification I relished from my duty was very rewarding. For example, it was here that I found, picked and groomed my beautiful life partner, whom I taught in the primary school. Secondly, it was a pride and pleasing to see many prominent men and women in the society who passed through my tutelage. Most of them would be excited seeing me, and would always invite me at any opportunity for occasions, to show appreciation. Such opportunities were always colored with one type of favour or the other. It was always a happy reunion.
In spite of all these, I came to realize lately, the drawback associated with my career, which specialized in developing and upgrading others, while leaving me sprawling behind. This has nothing to do with bad mind or envy, but blame on a static system which had no room for further training and development of teachers. The system only relied on stereotyped circle of preparing notes of lessons from teachers syllabus to teaching students until a new formula was introduced by the authorities for adoption.
I give glory to God for being able to send my children to the University. One of them who is coincidentally a participant in the Steemit Forum @georgegodwin, is a student in Federal polytechnic Nekede, studying Building Technology. I appreciate him @georgegodwin for introducing steemit to me and also showing great gratitude to @pasaift who introduced my son.
When I retired from the teaching profession, I delved into the business world, and only then did I find myself exposed to the dynamic world that left me behind. I found out that I could not cope with many of the requirements necessary to launch me into modern business environment due to my conservative background. I was encouraged to enroll into the University to study Business Administration by my son, it was hilarious, charming and entertaining. Today, I am an accomplished businessman with a degree in Business Administration. I will be blogging mainly about poetry, because i have always had interest in it since when I was a little boy. Along side photography, motivational writings, secret to success. I hope you all enjoy! I still remain my humble self @godwinkalu
