@reonlouw Contest 26 June
This is the promised story:
I first heard about Steemit in a video made by @joshsigurdson on YouTube. I liked the idea, but I had almost no experience with social media, I did not really use Facebook and I do not have an account on Twitter, or Instagram. Steemit is very open, but reliable. You know from the very begining where you stand.
Still, the idea that I will post something, not just on the internet, but on the blockchain, I found scary.
In the Netherlands, people are convicted in court cases for words nowadays.
So I had to make a choice: I can talk about who I am or talk about what I think and what I stand for. But certainly not both. Sad, hey! You would not expect that from a Western "democracy". Hey outsiders! Did you know this? The fear runs pretty deep. I admire, for example, that @reonlouw, very nonchalantly, tells us so much of himself AND what he stands for.
I have found it very difficult here for months. I am not that creative or artistic.
I started to feel more at home when I discovered @Kryptonia. I cannot write in English, but I can certainly make tasks by reading and supporting other people. Too bad my vote is still dust at the moment, but attention and a good word are also valuable, I hope. I can only promise that I will also upvote you when I will have a larger account.
It is great that I can experience aspects of the lives of so many people, sometimes daily.
I have a handful of people I follow on a daily basis: @reonlouw, @fitinfun, @floridanow, @exploretraveler, @socialmediaseo, @joanstewart, for different reasons. Maybe they represent different parts of my own personality. After all we never escape that, right?
I wanted a daily activity with more people and started a daily contest. It is a lot of fun and I got to meet @builderofcastles and @photoquest and @smartmediagroup and @maarnio and I hope, many more.
I am happy with Steemit.
