Who is Nick Visco?
Hello, my name is Nick Visco and I am a recent graduate of William Paterson University. During my time in school, I studied radio and television in hopes to take my media dreams to the next level. I participated at my college radio station where I earned my spot on the air to both host and produce my own show called, The Hip Hop Shop. Being a host felt so right to me, I have natural skill in talking to people, and it is through this skill that I am able to conduct engaging interviews. Once I was able to build enough experience in my first year, I was blessed enough to interview big names such as Charlemagne Tha God, PnB Rock, Lil Uzi Vert, DJ Envy and the cast of Shoboy in the Morning.
Following graduation, college radio faded away and thrusted me into the real world, forcing me to start from scratch. Hitting reboot on everything I accomplished was hard to handle, and threw me into a slight depression. It has now been 10 months since I graduated and I am still waiting on a full time job in radio or television. Currently, I am working part time as a street team employee for a NY radio station. When first taking on the job, I was eager to climb up the ladder, and I did in just 2 months of being there. I fought my way into the studio and began filling in as the producer for Shoboy in the Morning in New York City, I even got some air time! I felt so blessed to wake up for that job every morning. Until the radio format flipped and left me jobless. It was in that moment that I was bumped back down to street team, handing out stickers and driving the van all over God's creation. Yet again, I was thrown a curve ball. As of now, I'm seeking other opportunities for employment, but until that day comes, I made the choice to grab the bull by the horns and begin producing my own content here on on Steemit.
My Steemit Origin Story
For starters, I have been creating content since 2009. After much trial and error in posting to sites such as YouTube and Instagram, a friend of mine opened my awareness to the new world of Steemit, a social media site that awards you for curating and creating content. After processing the information that had been presented to me, I immediately went on defense by telling my him,
Right, so you're telling me that I can get paid for posting my original content? Bullshit.
Well... No bullshit here; But how can you blame me for being skeptical? Especially after trying to understand the use of Steem, SBD and Steem Power! When first learning about these different functions, I felt like I was in the tutorial stages of a video game. However, after many YouTube videos I began to understand how revolutionary Steemit can actually be through the use of the crypto currency. That being said, there is money to be made here, and lots of it. On the contrary, I came to also realize that not just anyone can blow up on Steemit. You need to have very high quality content in order to earn resteems and upvotes; As well as becoming an actual member of the community by engaging with other Steemians through their content, or in the Discord chatroom.
Why Steemit, Why?
Although Steemit is amazing in so many ways, it doesn't come without some flaws. One of which being how tons of amazing content (much like my own) is swept under the rug everyday. To gain followers is no easy feet for little minnows like myself. It is why I give thanks to contents much like this one who help put young prodigies on the Steemit map. Without these contests, finding accelerated growth would be near impossible without dumping money into support bots. Although the bot functions are helpful, they can't replicate a real life follower who actually engages with your content, it is for this reason that I hope to win this competition.
My Steemit Dreams
My goal on Steemit is to take my @Dtube series On Cloud 9 to the next level by promoting various musical acts to the community through my Song of the Day segments. As of now my reach is too small to promote these new artists in the way that I would like. Before coming to Steemit, the show crashed and burned on YouTube and Instagram, leaving a feeling of embarrassment and failure. After some time, I brushed myself off and decided to repackage the show just for Steemit. I believe in this idea and know that it can help unknown artists rise to the heights that they deserve.
In addition, I also aim to inspire others through my personal diary entries that I blog about on Steemit. When posting my deepest and darkest thoughts out into the world, it is often intimidating on account of the immense amount of vulnerability that I emit to the public. Although scary, I know that my experiences and thoughts can possibly help someone else in whatever they are going through. I can't rap or sing, so writing my feelings is the best way to handle my anxieties.
Drops the Mic
In conclusion, I hope that you were able to get a feel for who I am through this submission. My goals on Steemit are mainly centered around bettering other people through my work. As human beings our job is to help lift up and inspire others to become everything they can be. That right there is the road to true happiness, a place that I will one day find. Thank you again for reading my submission, I wish you luck in the selection of whoever comes out on top.
