Steem Summit Manifesto

Hello Steemians! We are all very excited to announce to all of you the event that we have been cooking up for Cebu. We present to you the Steem Summit which aims to further the reach of the platform by spreading it to more people.

Steem Summit is the Philippines’ first big Steemit event of its kind. It is a fun gathering of Cebuanos that promotes diversity of passions and talents.

The objectives of the summit are as follows:

  1. Showcase the diversity of Cebuano talent.
  2. Promote Steemit to non-Steemians.
  3. Instill in Steemians a deeper sense of community.
  4. Solidify the presence of the Cebuano community in Steemit.

Showcasing the diversity of Cebuano talent.

Steem Summit will feature works of art in a variety of forms. Among these forms are: literary works, and visual and performing arts. An exhibit showcasing poetry, travel, photography, other artworks and exceptional content by Steemians will be put up in the event. Apart from the aforementioned, a program including (but not limited to) dance, song, beatbox and spoken word poetry performances will be featured as well.

Promoting Steemit to non-Steemians.

Steem Summit will also be open to non-Steemians. Steemians are highly encouraged to bring interested applicants to the event. The summit is structured into three parts: pre-summit, summit and post-summit. Each part will have corresponding promotional activities. All the parts will have one great goal: to spread Steemit in Cebu.

Instilling in Steemians a deeper sense of community.

The summit will feature talks by notable Steemians. The talks will center on Steemit success stories that aim to inspire not only existing Steemians but also those interested to join. The speakers will also highlight the bigger picture - that one of the strengths of the platform is the communities that it helped build.

Solidifying the presence of the Cebuano community in Steemit.

The advertising campaign will create the hype and leave footprints of the event within and outside of Steemit. With the three-fold approach of the advertising campaign, the Cebuano community will be making its mark not just in the Steemit platform, but also in other forms of social media as well.

Why the need for a summit?

With the Steem white paper’s call for content creators and consumers, the organizers believe that everyone has something to offer. Thus, this call must inevitably be answered with quality content. While it has become clear that “quality content” can both be objective and subjective, the organizers believe that the content creator can spontaneously express this when passion in an identified area exists. This passion can be expressed through one’s talents. The summit will provide Steemians the avenue through which they can freely showcase what they can offer the platform.

Thus, Steem Summit is Steemit translated in real life.

What is the difference between the summit and the meet-ups?

The meet-ups had been centered on individual Steemians’ growth. The talks in the meet-up highlighted this. While the presence of the Cebuano community can be felt, meet-ups were designed to be intimate and instructional. Steem Summit is supportive of this but its focus will be the Cebuano community, specifically in the diversity of our people’s talents. The summit is designed to be fun, motivational and big.

What is the significance of Steem Summit?

To the best of the organizers’ knowledge, this is the first summit of its kind in the country. It celebrates passions, talents and community. Though the event promotes the Steemit Cebuano community, it is bigger than the community. It’s bigger than the Steemit Cebuano community because it provides a place for everyone, Steemians and non-Steemians alike, to participate in the celebration of our people’s passions.

The organizers envision for this event to foster the idea that everyone has something to offer. In essence, this is what Steemit is all about.

All pretty exciting, right? Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days. Don't forget to hit that "follow" button so you won't miss out.
