Castle in the... Trees?! :: Beautiful Japan #37

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants, too
Outside, in the distance
A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
The wind began to howl
—Bob Dylan, All Along the Watertower

Rather than a watchtower, it's Okazaki Castle. Back in the day, this location is probably as close to the castle keep as a normal person could get. Almost looks lost in all those trees, doesn't it? There really aren't that many of them, but due to all the rain in rainy season, in the summer the trees (and all green things) come in very thick.

Besides the Dylan song, the other thing that comes to mind when I see this view of the castle is the wonderful Ghilbi fim Castle in the Sky. Rather than in the sky, this castle seems stuck in the trees.

The texture is an old stone I found somewhere. Interesting pattern to it, eh? Something about it just made me want to try it out with this photo. What do you think—good combination?
