The end has come for this poor little guy. But even in death, there is beauty.
The deep red jumped out at me against the greenish yellow of the moss. I love the moss that grows everywhere in Japan. And I love how the red of the Japanese maple leaf stands out against it. What a wonderful combination!
Always keep your head high and look high is common advice, at least in the US. Good advice generally, but sometimes there is value in looking down. As I always teach in my photography classes, you never know what you'll see down there, and sometimes the best photo are right beneath our noses.
