Stationery stores in Japan are excellent. Bookstores in Japan are excellent. Coffee shops in Japan tend to be excellent. Put them altogether and the result is the Tsutaya (a popular chain bookstore) in Toyanogata, Niigata City. It's one of my favorite places.

Stores in Japan--especially bookstores like this--are clean, well-organized, and relaxing places to wander around and peruse the titles, stationery, and other unique items on display. Let's have a look.
