Top 4 Bedtime Companions (Notes from Under the Tatami Mats–35 … My Adventures in Japan)

“Rub-rub” means “reciprocal love.” Or maybe "reciprocal rubbing.”    ☺

Suffice it to say that some of the fine ladies in the country provided the most wonderful and memorable of all my Japan experiences. (See Tatami #1.) 

Rub-rub (aka “love-love”)

Re #1, “rub” is the closest phonetic approximation in Japanese of the English word “love.”  Therefore, “rub-rub” is used by the Japanese to say “love-love,” which I believe means reciprocal love. Or maybe reciprocal rubbing. ☺   

In the case of M-chan, it meant both “rub-rub-rub-rub-rub-rub-rub-rub” and “love-love-love-love-love-love-love.”       _{(Image source)}
