I am pleased to be able to participate in this project. I do not have confidence that I can write detailed information on Hong Kong · Singaporean culture so I would like to introduce Japanese culture to all of you.
Tomorrow May 5th is a child's day, it is also boy's festival.
We also made a post of the Hinamatsuri which is a peach festival before.

March 3 is a girls' festival. Tomorrow is a boys' festival.
It is a day to wish for children's health and happiness.
In the boys' festival it is common to decorate Kabuto in the house,'koi-nobori', or the carp-shaped streamers outside the house.

明日5月5日は子どもの日で、端午の節句でもあります。
以前には桃の節句であるひな祭りの投稿もいたしました。

端午の節句はそれの男の子バージョンですね。
ひな祭りのように子どもの健康や幸せを願って祝う日です。
端午の節句では外に鯉のぼりを家の中では兜を飾るのが一般的です。
Koinobori is carp-shaped streamers.
I took this picture because I could not prepare the picture of a carp streamer decorating outside.
Originally the carp streamer was for informing that the boy was born. Carp is a fish with strong life force. Koinobori has a thought that it will become a person who can endure any trials. Also pray for children's success and decorate them outside.

元々鯉のぼりは男の子が産まれ跡継ぎができたことを知らせるのぼりを立てたことから始まっています。また鯉は生命力の強い魚です。鯉のぼりはどんな試練にも耐え立派な人になるようにと、子どもの出世を祈るために立てられています。
Kabuto is samurai warrior helmet.
Since decorating the helmet was originally playing the role of protecting itself with war
It decorates it in the house as a charm that receives disaster in the place of the child.
We also eat kashiwamochi and chimaki at boy's festival.
Kashihachi is said to make happy descendants. It is established as an auspicious food.
chimaki has a meaning to exclude misfortune.
The peach festival on March 3, the boy's festival on May 5th, both of which are the events of parents' desire to think of child's happiness. I would like these cherished events to continue as a good culture of Japan.
兜を飾るのは元々戦で身を守る役目を果たしていたことから
子どもの身代わりに災厄を受けるお守りとして家の中に飾ります。
また端午の節句では柏餅やちまきを食べます。
柏餅は子孫が繁栄するといわれ、縁起のいい食べ物として定着しています。
ちまきには厄除けの意味があります。
3月3日の桃の節句、5月5日の端午の節句、どちらも子の幸せを思う親の願いが込められた行事ですね。こういった行事は日本の良き文化として大切にしていって欲しいです。
