My entry to #killerpix contest @killerwhale. Theme is stickers.
This is photo of back of a van from the Family Resource Centres. The Centers offer programs and resources for children and families including parent education and support groups.
There are seven of these centres on my tiny Island.
We believe that children have the right to be safe, to be protected, to be loved, to speak, to be listened to, to think for themselves, to live without fear of abuse (physical, emotional or sexual), to have adequate housing, to have a support network, to be educated, to be fed, to be clothed, to live without prejudice, to be happy and live like a child, to have a spiritual upbringing, and to be treated with respect, to have opportunities that build self-esteem.
We believe that all children should be treated equally, regardless of colour, creed or gender; and should be accepted as they are.
We believe that the community shares responsibility for the children.
We believe in the group values of confidentiality; supportiveness and respect; equality; and being open to new members.
We believe that we have to reach out.
We believe that any programs we create should be safe, supportive and non-threatening, be accessible to everyone without creating stigma or shame, build on strengths, and consider the whole person rather than just the problems a person is experiencing, enhance a person’s self-worth, be preventive, non-fragmented, and flexible, involve learning from each other and working with each other, encourage fathers as well as mothers to become involved.
