The ball

What emotions do kindness and responsiveness evoke? And is it true that positive emotions arise only in those people who show kindness or responsiveness? The author O.A. Savelyeva answers these questions in the text proposed for analysis. Savelieva.

The question of the pleasure of kindness and mutual assistance arises in connection with the situation described by the narrator.

Katyusha, who lost her balloon, "cried" because she did not want to accept the balloon offered to her by her brother. It is clear that the girl really likes the behavior of children running after the ball. The first time Katyusha addresses a stranger with the words "Thank you!" is not just a "nod", but a sincere gratitude from a girl to unfamiliar men who return "her" balloon, the one that she personally took when leaving the cafe. The author emphasizes the heroine's sincere joy at the return of her ball.

But did Katyusha experience only positive emotions in this situation? The fact that the man gives the caught ball "solemnly" and "smiling all over his mouth" already indicates that he sincerely wants to help the girl and make her happy. The man hears a simple, childish "thank you" and declares that he is "glad" to hear "the first words of another child." Then he admits that he wants to catch that balloon again and make the girl happy. The text expresses the idea that helping others and being kind is "extremely pleasant."
