EASTER EGG HUNT

My son and I volunteered today at the 35th Annual Gerry McCarthy Easter Egg Hunt. When my son was younger, he took part in the event. When he was about thirteen, we began volunteering and have done so ever since. It was a wonderful and fun way to teach him about giving back to the community.
We helped scatter 16,000 candy and toy filled Easter eggs. It took the volunteers longer to scatter them than it did for the kids to collect them. The above photo is just one section of Saint Joseph Preparatory High School’s land where the event took place.
It was a beautiful morning; the sun was shining. The Easter Bunny, Mrs. Easter Bunny, and the local politicians were there to greet the Easter Egg Hunters and their families. Everyone left with eggs in their baskets, 100 kids won toys donated by a local merchant. There were snacks and beverages before and after the hunt. It was a fabulous morning. I can’t wait to do it again next year.
