AK Tiny Home Build (Part 1)- Foundation

Living in Alaska can pose all kinds of challenges. In our case finding a used trailer that wasn't completely trashed or out of our price range was proving more difficult than first imagined. We found that brand new car trailers in Alaska were two to four thousand dollars more than comparable trailers in the lower forty eight. Used trailers here in Alaska are often the same price as new trailers down south. (If you have a decent truck, stack some trailers and head north. You will make money and have a beautiful drive.)

Once we came to terms with how much we were going to pay for our new foundation, our attention turned to brand spanking new trailers! Woo-Hoo! We watched many tiny home videos on the tube that mustn't be named here. A couple videos directed us to www.ironeagletrailers.com. This company makes tiny house trailers. A foundation on wheels!

There was a couple features we liked about the Iron Eagle's tiny home trailer . This custom trailer has a dropped floor which gives you extra inches above, pre-drilled holes for sub-floor and bottom plates, we had the heavier axles installed. The best part, Iron Eagle recommended a gentleman that would deliver to Alaska for a reasonable price.

Our final decision was on a 8 1/2 X 20 foot trailer with two seven thousand pound gross axles. It arrived safely with only a few dings and some dirt which is great for the Alaskan Highway.
