The journey continues today from my roadtrips around North America.
You have to remember, these pictures are from 2006 and so is the technology I was using then. Digital Cameras were not what they are today, so the quality suffers.
In Canadastan, one of the animals most legendary in our country that we -- and tourists talk about is the moose!
This done one better ---- It is a moose dressed in the RCMP outfit of the Mounties -- the Federal / National Police Force.
As usual, I will offer minor political commentary on the spotted past of the RCMP in the Police State here -- tied to Bill C-51, and the police state / mass surveillance bill, stealing the civil rights of people in this country.
Cypress Mountain - North Vancouver Mountain Range - Snowboarding!
--
... 30 degrees at the base, beginning of summer- 2006 - the hill where they had the 2010 Olympics 4 yrs later!
This area is known as West Van. As you head out on the coast towards Whistler - there are mountain ranges there.
I climbed the other one just the other side of Cypress --- it is known as Grouse Mountain. I climbed it in sub-60 (54 mins I think) - which is very very good.
--
It really honestly is warm enough at the base for me to be in my shorts here, a lot of people were.
As per the sign in below photo, I do not like being told what to do either LOL
--
A friend had his camera, and was taking photos of us this day -- this is me making sure I stop short enough and do not take him out
(:
--
If you keep heading up the 99 Highway North (Sea to Sky Highway) -- you will be at Whistler which is world famous..... in about half an hour or so. They held more of the 2010 Olympics up there also.
A lot of the snowboarding was done here at Cypress for the Olympics.
Construction was well underway here in 2006 when I visited. I was on the road for about 25 weeks and spent the last 90 days in many communities around the lower mainland and areas within 1-2 hours by car, of Vancouver

That is the Pacific Ocean in the Background, this is a beautiful shot. As you can see by the maps - what you really see first here is Horseshoe Bay and Howe Sound which are part of the Pacific.

Brief Overview of the Vancouver area / North and West Van areas
(North Shore district)
It links the North Shore of Vancouver to Stanley Park (the island there) with the Mountain Ranges and the Mainland of Vancouver proper.
The North Shore has a few mountain ranges you can see some of in my photos, and is heading to Whistler on the 99 North (Sea to Sky Highway)
The famous "island" you see where the Vancouver Seawall and Aquarium are (The "island" is called Stanley Park, and everything I just mentioned here are literally world famous places / attractions) , it is really something!
Looking across the Vancouver (Downtown / West Side areas) and one of the North Shore Mountain Ranges.
The World famous Kits Beach in the Kitsilano district right on the water. Lots of World Class Beach Volleyball happens here on the Burrard Inlet -- right on the Pacific Ocean!
I used to play at a semi pro level, so I spent a LOT of time down here --- even on days I did not play at all.
There is a lot of things to do and see in this area, believe me!!!
And the view!
Directly Related to this Post is this one about Snowboarding and a look at some of my life in the Mountains there!
Why This Series, Barry?
I was driving across the country here and there and have TONS of photos from my various journey around North America.
I decided to start posting some of them since some people have encouraged me to post more personal things over the months which I have done.
This set is from my Cross Country Mission Trip in 2006 where I called it Coast to Coast w. the Holy Ghost LOL.
