In the baking world set up is called “Mise en place” basically translating to everything in its place. It is by far one of the most crucial steps when dealing with culinary arts yet I find it is largely overlooked. Most people have a tendency just to jump into things without any forethought of the tools necessary to do the job.

That brings me to the subject of this post, the tools that I have found necessary for me to be able to continue being consistent in my work. Trying to do everything on the phone is a little bit of a challenge from a lack of storage not being able to edit larger videos down to the small screen that lacks the ability to fine-tune. Even jumping onto my iPad with it’s larger screen still has complications especially when it comes to recording. The recording part is the most troubling as the best camera on a mobile device is on the back and you’re not able to view the screen to position yourself correctly in frame. That means for a large amount of my earlier work I was essentially shooting blind.

Since I have purchased my GoPro I have found being able to review my active shooting with a mobile device has improve my ability to stay in frame and pay attention to lighting. This also means with the GoPro I can record vlogs with a higher resolution as with my quick mounts it attaches at the back of the phone pointing the best camera out the window limiting me to 720p and very poor focusing sensors.

Now I will take that dual fold and use the GoPro for mobile vlogging, making use of the equipment in the image above. I purchased a set of Scosche quick mounts from Costco many moons ago having an extra one and mounting plates that came with it still sitting around now is a perfect time to put them to use. My GoPro also purchased from Costco came with the flat surface mount which I will use with the quick mount to then be able to quickly pickup my camera and go or spin it as necessary using my iPhone on the other mount for viewing my framing and triggering the camera.

It seems sometimes that the extra things I have picked up along my travels are finally finding use here along my Steemit journey! Never put my computer to this much use other then gaming previously or really captured my life’s events in so much detail for that matter. Now little odds and ends I’ve had kicking around come to help with maintaining the simplicity of my creation through making use of my time wisely.
