For quite a while now I wanted to share a very unusual place that my husband and I accidentally discovered a couple years ago. Unfortunately, my previous phone suddenly died with all the pictures inside so I had nothing left to show. However, recently we've got an opportunity to revisit it.
In French city Strasbourg, Rue des Francs-Bougeois, right next to the Place Kleber can be found a small movie theater called "L'Odyssee". I have picked words "Movie theater" instead of the "cinema" very precisely. Stick with me while I'll explain why.
From the outside, it is well disguised as the pub type cafe rather than the cinema. It can be recognized just from the few movie posters hanging in the windows and meanwhile it does looks like any typical place to watch classical or less known producers' movies, a slightly shabby facade hides a gem - the great movie screening hall.
The first impression once you step inside is pretty amazing. The hall looks more like a playhouse rather than a typical cinema setting. A humble one but still...
It has two floors. You can pick a place and make yourself comfortable wherever you desire. First floor is for more common experience and the balcony is if you feel like watching your movie like in a proper theater.
Every corner is decorated with accents: golden vines, arcs, vases, glass chandeliers on the ceilings. Everything is just to enhance the overall feeling that you came here for anything else but to watch a movie.
The golden frame around the red drapes, that serves as the screen, makes every scene of the movie look like a moving picture hanging on the wall. A really enjoyable experience that I recommend to try out for everyone :)
Thank you for joining me.
Much love <3
