Part 6: Without Trees, There Are So Many Things We Would Have to Live Without
(Previous parts at the end of the article)
If there were no trees, there would be no products we could get from them.
We all use and waste paper everyday like there is no tomorrow, without realising that we are helping destroy 4 billion trees that are cut down for this purpose every year - newspapers, notes in a notepad, toilet paper, egg cartons, napkins, books and grocery bags just to name a few things.

But what about things like diapers (nappies)? I know I would not get on with cloth ones. Disposable diapers are so handy, but they are such a big waste and drain on trees. So I, for one, know I must do something to make sure I do something to make sure more trees are planted, or saved to make up for this one aspect. I feel that this is my duty.
Do you or your kids love drawing? Not only would there be no paper, but no crayons and pencils either. The beautiful and obsure pictures of toddlers would definitely be sorely missed, especially as at the moment pictures are starting to become more instantly recognisable and its an experience I would hope that every parent can proudly watch their child go through.
Something else to think about is how would you drive your car? Tires are made from trees so when there are no trees, cars will only have a limited life until some sort of alternative would have to be made before the world becomes immobile, as that would mean no airplane tires either!
What about no wooden benches, beds or furniture, linoleum or wooden floors? I know our living room would look pretty empty if there was nothing made from in it, just a TV and one plastic chair, but who's to say whether they too have any resins or such like that originally comes from trees.
Can you imagine a world without chopsticks, chewing gum, maple syrup and fruit, berries and nuts harvested from trees, or olive oil? Cooking and healthy eating would be out the window and up the creek.
Music would not be the same without wooden string instruments (like guitars, ukeles and cellos) tambourines and xylophones.
And where would America be without baseball bats?
And this is just a small selection of products that originally come from trees. It's rather mind blowing how much we actually do rely on trees.
