A Jeezzle Movie Review: Weird Science.

I love 80s movies. The music, the atmosphere, everything about 80s movies makes me smile.

If you love 80s movies also then you will love Weird Science.

Weird Science is everything an 80s movie should be.

Weird Science was written and directed by John Hughes who is well known for a number of 80s movies including Sixteen Candles.

Who's in it?

Weird Science stars Anthony Michael Hall, Ilan Mitchell-Smith, and Kelly LeBrock.

Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith play a couple of absolute doofuses who everyone seems to dislike and make fun of all the time.

Kelly LeBrock plays the model that the boys create on their computer.

Also of note is Robert Downy Jr. before he went through his incarceration for drug use and possession and subsequent return to fame.

Let's not forget a young Bill Paxton either.

He has a fun role as a despicable bully.

What's the plot?

A lot of movies from the 80s have a very similar plot with some important minor differences.

Two super dorks who everyone hates at their high school have one night where they become ultra popular and everyone seems to have forget the fact that they were super dorks and just accepts them as super cool.

In this regard the plot is nearly identical to Sixteen Candles which was also written by John Hughes.

However, this movie has a serious difference in that it is also about a science experiment gone right.

The two boys decide to create their own super hot chick up in their room on their computer.

They need extra power to make this work so they borrow some from NASA and from the military's mainframes.

Supposedly because of this extra power they are actually able to create their hot chick.

She is also magical somehow and capable of transforming people and objects as she sees fit.

The strange thing is that this totally works and does not make question what is going on.

What's special about this movie?

Anthony Michael Hall is simply a genius.

He has played multiple clueless dorks with aplomb.

The other main character in this movie, Ilan Mitchell-Smith, is someone that I have never seen or heard from again.

Kelly LeBrock is simply gorgeous, or at least she was in 1985 when this movie came out.

This movie also spawned the amazing song called Weird Science by Oingo Boingo which is simply incredible.

It's really fun seeing the young Bill Paxton play a bully.

It's also cool seeing Robert Downey Jr. as he was in the past.

Personally I love everything about the 80s.

I love the big valley girl hairstyles and the pink leggings.

I can't get enough of the leather jackets and chains and crazy things that were considered normal back then.

Mostly, though, I love the music.

If you're a fan of 80s movies don't miss Weird Science
