Should you quit social media?

Over the years humans have developed different ways to communicate. From spoken language to writing the distance communication such as mail, phones. And today I am gonna write about social media. It allows us to communicate with people around the world at the click of button and share information with others. It gives us the option to work from home or grow your business and get information quickly and talk to people what we would never met otherwise. It is an online heaven that opens the door to so many opportunities but heaven can easily turn into hell. It seems less harmful than alcohol or drugs but social media is just addictive if not even more so. Whenever you get a notification you feel an urge to click on it whether it is to see what's new or just too clearly you know encounder and your brain rewards you for that by releasing dopamine and getting you even more addicted by scrolling down more and more for your feed. You don't sense of time and hurt yourself discipline because you can't control the amount of time you spend online So you end up wasting your time doing a meaningless thing. You could have been productive or enjoy real life.

The more time you spend on social media, the more you addicted you become. Have you noticed how many times you go on facebook or instagram without even intending to. You just click the icon and go there because you are used to. You eventually become impatient and get bored too easily. Whenever you little bored or not interested in what's going on you just go and check social media so fast and easy. You just click and immediately tons of interesting things the right in front of you, like every other addiction. It's not enough for you and you need larger doses. You spend more time online, start doing more than one thing at a time. Like listening to videos explain on the background while you are looking up for something else or written comments. You can't spend one more moment of boredom so if it's not so long ago you are checking social media whether you were waiting in line somewhere. Whenever your phone rings or get a text message, you immediately grab your phone and it gets into a point where you start imagine that you heard your phone rings or you think that you felt a vibration.

Social media creates false reality

Social media creates false reality. You receive likes from people who won't even say hello when they see you face to face. People write happy birthday on your wall but once send a message or call you. Every photo you upload makes you feel anxious, what if I don't get enough likes. You start to crave those likes and when get a lot of them, it makes you happy but for what ? Well, it might feel nice for some people but you can't let it affect your confidence or use it to measure how many people like you in real life. You can't really get to know someone just by chatting with them online. When you meet them in reality, you usually see a whole different person than the one you thought they were. That's because online, you don't see their body language, facial expressions and the way they act in person. People are not themselves on the internet. When you hide behind a screen, you allow yourself to act different unusual. Approach people you are too shy to talk in reality be more open but also encourages negative behavior like swearing in cyber bullying because you are a braver on the internet trick your brain with virtual interactions. You start to think unconsciously like why do I even need reality? It's much easier to talk people online and instead of becoming more social.

Social media makes you anti social. Social media leads to misconstruction of reality. Everyone looks so happy like they have a perfect life. Why is that ? Of course nobody is happy all the time. Life is a combination of ups and downs but in social media we see only the highlight of someone's life. Only the happy moments which are also fake sometimes. People usually don't upload pictures of themselves inside moments or hard times and they might smile for the picture but the next moment not smile anymore.

Social media is a huge part of modern life and you can benefit from it as well. You can decide to quit for a certain amount of time and see how it effects you.You will probably experiance withdrawal symptoms and that shows how addicted you are. Limit yourself to check social media the fewest time you can. I think that once a day is fair enough but not more than 15 minutes. Do you limit your activity on social media? Write in comment what you think about it.
