Being properly organized and prepared for tests and exams can make all the difference to school performance. Effective studying starts with the right attitude a positive outlook can shift studying from a punishment to an opportunity to learn.
If you want better grades, you need more effective study habits. The key to effective studying isn’t cramming or studying longer, but studying smarter. So, I am going to give you some tips about how to study more effectively.
Make order from kaos
Studying non stop is not going to help you. You have to have a plan in order to be productive. Take the time to think about how you are going to learn and all will help you to improve. Try to understand what the course demands from the students and why you should focus on.
Active learning
When we think about studying, sometimes the first thing that pops into our mind is reading. However, only reading or putting most of your effort into reading is not effective, this is passive learning. Consuming information that wouldn't absorb maybe unless you are a genius. Our brain learns better when we study actively. Here are active ways to learn:
Flashcards
You can use them to practice questions or for memorization.
Teach a friend
When you explain to someone something you already know, it helps you for deeper understanding.
Practice exams
Probably the best thing to do when you prepare for a test.
Spread your time
Because of many reasons you might find yourself a week before the exam without a clue of what's going on. Sometimes it's possible to study right before the exam and succeed but it's wiser to learn during free times. So, you have time to test the subjects and really understand what you are doing. It is also good for the long term. When learn new things, you will have a background. Create a schedule to manage your studies if you have too many things to do, prioritize and make more time for the important things.
Motivation
Studying is not fun all the time or never fun for some people and it can be hard to motivated to get some work done. There are many tricks recharge motivation like promising yourself a treat or fun activity if you finish a task. It is very important to dedicate time for friends and hobbies because looking yourself in your room and study all day can be depressing. When you know that your set special time for activities for your soul, it will be easier to get motivated. Nevertheless, when you study be focused on studying only. Avoid distractions and get yourself in study mode.
Lessons learned
Learning from your mistakes is the highway to success. You make progress compared to yourself so when you know what you did wrong, you can learn from it and not repeat the same mistake.
