Okay so if anyone hasn't heard about collagen protein, it's amazing! This one I used is called Vital Proteins collagen, but there are several other good brands out there, like Further Collagen, which also have good ingredients and processing methods.
So what is it? Well it's basically a protein supplement that you can add to any drink or even food, and it's made up of the proteins in animals' tissue, cartilage, etc. So basically the parts of the animal, other than the chicken breast or more common parts of the animal that we are used to eating today. However, our ancestors, used to eat these "other parts of the animal." In fact, I know of some aboriginal people that used to salvage every part of the animal they could for food, and the rest for other practical purposes. They wouldn't waste any of it. So what does this have to do with anything? Well, the human body has evolved on eating every part of the animal possible. And that means that in the past our bodies were getting the full nutritional potential out of our food. But now in Western culture today we generally only eat certain parts of the animal, and the rest gets left out. What does this mean? It means that we're now missing out on so many nutrients that our bodies have evolved on, like the ones found in tissue and cartilage. And these have essential proteins and amino acids that are body needs but is no longer getting.
I've been taking collagen protein now for over a year. Both the collagen supplements I've listed above are non-GMO, paleo friendly, kosher, gluten-free, and grass fed. And I've noticed many results since taking them. For one, my skin is firmer. My hair doesn't dry out and split at the ends. Not to mention it's grown the longest I've ever had it as a result. My nails rarely break and I can actually grow them out for the first time in my life. And this is literally just because my body is getting essential proteins and amino acids from this supplement that it had been deprived of.
Seeing these real results in my body, in only a short time after starting to take the supplement was incredible. That's definitely what I like to see, and really one of my main goals in keeping to a healthy diet and lifestyle-- REAL RESULTS.
So I will definitely vouch for this supplement and highly recommend it. If anyone has any questions about it, definitely feel free to ask. I'm so glad I found out about this supplement and I wanted to share it with you all.
These are all my own original recipes and photos.
