These 10 inventions have made our lives easier and more beautiful. But did you know what connects them all? They're all caused by an accident.

1. Chewing gum

Chewing gum was actually a failed attempt to replace rubber. Thomas Adams used natural latex to replace rubber. Then he took it in his mouth, thinking that it is quite fun to chew it. He then added, taste and so the chewing gum was born in 1888.

Due to the decrease of the temperature, it was not possible to ferment the grape completely. Thus it only reached the second phase of the fermentation - the champagne was born.
