Things that matter are intangible | 101 TIME

"Difference Between School and Life: School teaches your lessons and then gives you a test. Life gives you a test and you learn the lessons"

Inspired by my mentor, we had heart to heart talk again after so many months. 😊

As our life gets busier, we get used to our daily routines and tend to overlook small things that matter most. Surely unintentional but at times those small things are being taken for granted. We have to make conscious effort to ensure that we still value what matters to us.

TIME

Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters. There is a famous saying Time Is Gold! It was just my favorite motto whenever I answer slam book back then but as I mature, I understand it clearly. Time is important - once gone, you can never turn it back!

How Do You Spend Your Time...

  • With your friends?
It is quite amazing knowing that we have friends whom we can run to whenever we need them. But, how often we really have real conversation? How often we spend time with each other? When was the last time we had good laugh?

Spending time with your friends gives you good vibes as they can bring out the young heart in you. Some good laughs over a cup of coffee is a good stress buster. Every time spent is an assurance that the bond will forever be there and no matter what, you will never be alone.

  • With your kids?
I understand you are working so hard to give your children a better life and send them to the best school in the universe. But, have you heard the first time she called you papa/mama? Have you witnessed all her milestones? The first time she is able to stand alone and had her first step? Where you there when she won the Quiz Bee or maybe two and half hour late on her graduation because of business meeting?

It is not wrong wanting best for your children but just keep in mind, you are Mommy/Daddy First!. They need your presence, attention and TLC - Tender Loving Care. An assurance that they have you no matter what. Having quality time with your kids boosts their confidence and you will see, with your support, they will excel on their own craft.

  • With your siblings?
Knowing that they are always there and will never leave us is the best excuse to be at ease even we don't talk to them for weeks. But have you, at least, ask them how are they? Perhaps it is them who need you at this very moment.

It is sad that we mostly call them whenever we need them, but do you know that a simple How are you?! means a lot to them. It is a bridge that connects both of you having this very busy life. Siblings are promise that you will never ever be alone, no matter what! You definitely have own flaws and argue, but believe me, one call will surely break whatever wall built between the two of you. Same with your cousins, they are your first friends.

  • With your partner?
I know you had a rough day at work and too tired but when was the last time you spent time with your partner alone? When was the time you went out and enjoyed a good movie or tasted the talk of the town burger nearby? When was the last time you had good conversation, laughing and giggling?

Yes, you are a breadwinner and you are doing it for your family but having a heart to heart conversation with your partner will ease the burden in you. PARTNER no matter what, he/she is PART of your life. Having some good laugh with your partner will brighten up your life and will strengthen your relationship.

  • With your parents?
They are aware that you are busy with your own family but surely they are waiting you to spend some time with them. When was the last time you visited them or talked over the phone? When was the last time you went out with them, had dinner even in fast food chain? Did you greet your parents on their anniversary or at least on their birthday?

As you grow up, they get older too. Spending quality time with them are the memories they will cherish for the rest of their lives. They still want to feel that you need them and of course, you remember them. That simple hello, 3 minutes call, out of your busy day means so much to them.

  • With your grandparents?
They understand that you are very busy but a surprise visit to them will surely make them happy. Lucky are those who still having grandparents but sadly, sometimes we only value what we have when we lost it.

They are not asking so much anymore, a good conversation with you is enough. Your precious time that you can spare them. A listening ear to their repeated stories and a hand to help them get up and guide them as they walk. A simple joke that will make them laugh and your naughty childhood that will make them smile.

  • Alone
However busy we are, we need a time for ourselves to relax and enjoy. Spending time alone, reading a book or listening to the soundtrack of your life refreshes your soul and gears you up for new challenges that may come along.

You owe yourself a healthy mind and soul to keep you going. Remember, it is you who is doing the work, you have to treat yourself to keep the fire in you. Reward yourself, you deserve it!

Time is more valuable than money, you can earn money as much as you want as long as you will work hard for it. But you can never have more time no matter how you work for it.

Quality times with your loved ones are intangible things that you can cherish for lifetime.

Bank happy memories especially with your kids, it is one of the key to shape their personality. Spend time as much as you can with your grandparents and parents, they are in their golden hours of their lives, so that you will never have regrets. Connect with your siblings and cousins, it is a nice feeling having family get together that is filled with so much laughter. Have some quality time with your friends specially with your partner to keep the bond intact, assuring that you have each other no matter what. Spend some time alone, assessing your goals and check if you have a contented heart! 😊

I hope you enjoyed and I will leave you with this quote:
