Studying Abroad
As my followers might already know, I am an English teacher and blog about topics related to education on my account on a regular basis. I think, the best way of informing about on Steemit can happen If you share the knowledge that you know really well. Education is my field and I am teaching English actively. This week, I am planning to share more posts about English education. This is the first part of my education posts this week. There is no need to say that English language and teaching this language are really important. We already know that.
People are looking for the best and easiest ways to learn English. Some of them prefer to stay in their own country or go abroad to learn it in the countries where this language is spoken as the main language. Today, I am going to talk about the advantages of studying abroad. We shouldn't forget that there are also many disadvantages of it, but it is going to be the topic of the post that I am planning to share tomorrow. Personally, I love the idea of studying abroad as it has got more advantages than studying in home country.
Learning Process
If you are learning a language, you must be aware of the fact that it is not a simple lesson. Language includes some elements such as pronunciation, its culture, and thinking in that language. When you study abroad, you have the chance to experience all these things. İmagine yourself living in London and learning English in the capital city of this international language. You will have to respond everything in a natural way as you are living a community whose language is English. Environment makes a huge difference in this process.
One of the main problems that my students are facing in my classes is the lack of thinking in English. They usually try to translate the sentences from Turkish into English which is a big mistake. However, If they study in some countries such as Australia, United States of America or Canada, they will break this barrier. They will see and hear how the language is used by native speakers. By doing so, they will get used to thinking in English, putting their own language aside. When you learn a language in its environment, things will always be easier for those who are doing their best to learn it.
Culture
Culture element is important in learning English. For example, If you want to learn some important idioms in the language or want to know how the words are formed, you must know the history and culture of the country. Studying abroad surely gives you chance to experience these things. Imagine yourself learning English in London and sipping your coffee in a traditional coffee shop by using the key words that you have learned. You can enjoy the feeling of speaking the language with your possible native friend that you might meet in London or somewhere else.
Teachers and people around you are also important. When you are learning a language, it is essential to learn the language in target language which is English. What I mean is I can't translate everything in English when I teach my students English. They should get used to learning even grammar in English. If you ever study abroad in a city where the spoken language is English, you will have the opportunities of learning it with a native teacher and learn the best pronunciation of the words with your professional teacher.
Final Note
Learning a language abroad has got many advantages. When we look at it in a larger scale, it also gives you chances to meet lots of people who are doing the same thing with you, leaving their countries behind. It broadens your mind by breaking your stereotypes about other nations. You can also show what you have done on your cv when you start looking for a job after your studies. It will help you to have a better life with all the experiences that I mentioned above for sure.
I will be posting about Education regularly. I would like to name this week as education week. Tomorrow, I am going to talk about the disadvantages of studying abroad to give you better chance to compare things. If you are also engaged in this process as a teacher or student, you are welcome to express your opinion below this post so that we can discuss together. Thank you for taking your time to read this. Have a nice day.
