Professionalism is a human’s ability to make his job perfectly. And the more often he can do it perfectly, the higher his professionalism. A man acquires this skill with the increase. So it would be ok – you can work, gain experience and use it for your benefit. But such is life that when you receive one thing you lose another one… So what can we lose in a process of getting an experience?! Our eyesight, posture, ages at least))) Of course, we can lose all these things. But it is more important that we can lose a secrecy, the very secrecy which admires us to work or to study due to our major subject.
Профессионализм – это умение человека выполнить свою работу на «отлично». И чем чаще это удается, тем выше ваш профессионализм. Это качество приобретают с годами практики. И вроде бы все хорошо – работай, набирайся опыта, используй его на благо. Но так уж устроена жизнь, что получив одно, мы часто теряем другое… Что же можно терять, приобретая опыт в работе? Зрение, осанку, годы, наконец ))). Можно, конечно, потерять и это… Но важнее всего то, что от нас ускользает тайна. Та самая, которая вдохновляет идти учиться и работать по выбранной специальности.

With the passing of years doctors begin to perceive people like a set of body organs in a leather bottle. The process of maintenance is still incomprehensible for us, for doctors this process is very simple – they know how it works and how they can fix it up.
С годами практики врачи начинают видеть нас, как набор органов в мешке из кожи. Нам по-прежнему непостижим процесс поддержания жизни, для них же все весьма прагматично – они знают, как это работает и как это можно починить.
I’ll try to mention as an instance my own occupation. I am an electronics engineer. So do you think that functioning of computers, computer programs and other office equipment is a secret for me?! Naturally NO! If it was so, my employer would lay me off. But if some questions appear it happens not because of computer functioning process mystery! The reason is that there is no enough knowledge. But my wards are mechanisms, they don’t have a soul, they can’t feel smth. and I can’t hurt them. May be if there is no a soul, there is no a mystery?
Попробую рассмотреть свою профессию. Я инженер-электроник. Осталась ли для меня загадкой работа компьютеров, компьютерных программ и прочей организационной техники? Нет (иначе меня стоило бы уволить)). А если и возникают вопросы, то это от недостатка знаний, а не от загадочности процесса работы ПК. Но мои подопечные – это машины, у них нет души, они не могут чувствовать, и я не могу причинить им боль. Может быть там, где нет души, нет и загадки?

Now we will mention as an instance a profession of psychologist. As for me this profession seems the most mysterious to me. A specialist of human nature… I can never stop admiring it! But what is a psyches view of people? May be, as well as the doctors, they can see only a set of emotions instead of real people? And what does this set consist of to their mind? Are there more developmental defects than virtues? What is a psychological portrait of statistically average human?
Давайте возьмем для примера профессию психолога. Лично мне она кажется самой загадочной. Специалист по человеческим душам… Это не может не вызывать восхищения! Но какими нас видят сами психологи? Может быть, как и врачи, набором эмоций? И что входит в этот набор, по их мнению? Чего там больше - пороков или добродетелей? Каков психологический портрет среднестатистического индивида?
And what is about a teacher? Doesn’t this profession conceal a lot of secrets? The teacher isn’t a simple specialist of humans soul. It works with a fragile soul, the soul which is on the way of becoming.
А профессия учителя? Разве не кроется в ней еще больше тайн? Это уже не просто специалисты по душам. Они работают с душами неокрепшими, только проходящими сложный путь своего формирования.

I’ve talked with my two acquainted teaches about this topic and I’ve heard two really different meanings.
The first was:
"What are you talking about? It couldn’t be any “secret” at work with such boobies! They must be put on a leash or you will be savaged".
And my reaction for this phrase was a question:
"So for what have your finished a pedagogical university? And why have you filled a post of teacher"?
The answer was:
"I’ve chosen pedagogical university, because it was easier to pass through the exams here. After finishing the university I began a career of teacher because there was no any choice".
The second answer absolutely differs from the first:
"Is there a mystery?! Yes there is by all means! It has become bigger then in a period of studying. Each pupil is a mystery. And my function isn’t finding a key of that mystery, my task is to see a reality from his point of view. I should try help to him, and the most important task is don’t disrupt his inner world balance".
Я побеседовала с двумя своими знакомыми преподавателями на эту тему. И услышала от них два абсолютно разных мнения.
Одна сказала мне:
"О чем ты? Какие загадки с этими балбесами? Их, как собак нужно держать на строгаче, иначе сожрут…"
Я поинтересовалась:
"Зачем же ты пошла учиться и затем работать учителем?"
Она ответила мне:
"Пошла туда, куда легче было поступить. А потом выбора не было, пошла работать в школу."
Ответ второй был таким:
"Тайна? Да, конечно! Она стала еще больше, чем во время учебы. Каждый ребенок – это загадка. А моя задача… нет, не разгадать ее, это не возможно. Моя задача – увидеть мир его глазами, постараться помочь и, самое главное, не нарушить хрупкое равновесие его мира, не навредить".
So why one of us can keep this feeling of mystery and the other one lose it irreparably?
Так почему же одни люди сохраняют ощущение таинственности в своей профессии, а другие теряют его безвозвратно?
It’s obvious that a secret disappears where there is no a soul. If we work with inanimate objects, we will receive a good practice but we will lose a mystery. For example, for a qualified locksmith it won’t be any mystery in a process of functioning of plumbing system.
Очевидно, что тайна исчезает там, где нет души. Если мы работаем с неодушевленными предметами, то накопление опыта неизбежно приведет к потере тайны. Например, для отличного слесаря, не будет тайной работа водопроводной системы.

Professions which are connected with a living soul will always keep a mystery, a secret, as we can perceive a soul. So you will ask me, why have disappeared a mystery in the aforementioned situation with my acquainted teacher? The answer is obvious! – Because she doesn’t put her heart and soul into her work. She has decided that she has learned everything and it’s not necessary to perfect herself in anything. The second teacher sees a soul in every child on the contrary and a puzzle, an opportunity to think of his inner world.
Профессии, в которых мы имеем дело с живыми душами, всегда будет хранить тайну, так как познать душу невозможно. Вы спросите, почему же исчезла тайна у той, первой моей знакомой? Да потому, что она сама не вкладывает душу в работу. Она решила, что уже все знает и совершенствоваться ей не в чем. Вторая же, напротив, видит в каждом ребенке загадку и повод задуматься, понять и изучить его душу.
By all means all these conclusions don’t mean that a locksmith can’t work from his heart and soul. It means only that the object of his job isn’t a mystery for him. And there is no a limit to the elaboration…
Разумеется, все эти выводы не означают, что слесарь не может работать с душой. Это лишь означает, что его объект работы – не загадка для него. А вот совершенствованию в своем деле предела нет…
