Valentine’s Day Woes - A Love Poem

What should I get her?

Where should we go?

Does she expect anything?

I don’t know.

Every year this day comes round,

Yet, never have the answers I found.

She is complicated and hard to read,

My aim is set, but I can’t draw a bead.

I should know her better by now,

Yet I am still lost on what to do somehow.

She may mean the world to me,

But gifts and words and food won’t do, you see,

For these things are temporay and fleeting,

And can’t express how hard my heart is beating.

The intention is there and the die is cast,

Each isle I walk down I swear is the last.

The shelves are filled with chocolates, gifts and toys,

Each with a potential promise of joys.

But I know these things will not do,

There is no gift special enough for you.
